Virtual King of Greystones 2020
With the recent lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, many have speculated that the KOG could go ahead as per previous years.
However we have decided to run, instead the first ever ‘Virtual King of Greystones’ (VKOG2020) and it’s going to be epic.
In the past few weeks we have debated back and forth on the matter, and while we know that many participants would be super keen to participate as per former years, we need to take into consideration the following:
- We must remember the core reason why we run this event.
It’s to raise money and awareness for The Gavin Glynn Foundation (helping families fighting childhood cancer with.
So many parents, of sick children and the public at large, would think it was pure lunacy, to run an event of this scale, and put people at risk of spreading the virus within the community, however small the risk may be at that time.
- The electric atmosphere which we have succeeded so well in creating, just could not be possible this year, due to the absence of spectators, who we could not allow into the park.
- Support crews like the RNLI, Ambulance and Gardai would be exposed to an unnecessary level of risk, when compared to running the alternative virtual event.
As you know the King of Greystones is the biggest fundraiser event for The Gavin Glynn Foundation (Helping families fighting childhood cancer) and every entry fee is a 100% donation to The Gavin Glynn Foundation.
Like all charities during this Covid19 pandemic they have been effected with all events and really could do with your help and continued support. We hope that everyone who has already registered and other people who want to take part will continue and like the below option.
