THE #KOG10 IDEA
In 2016, Deric O’ Hartigan TV3 brought 10 people together to complete 10 Triathlon’s around Ireland while raising money for 10 nominated charities and the Gavin Glynn Foundation was one.
TRI10 team came to the King of Greystones 2016 and donated €1000 which was amazing.
I loved the idea and thought how could we do something like this locally, so we approached former winner of KOG, Alex Gray of P Squared Performance to float the idea with him. I met Alex at the KOG 2016 as he was the first man home and Alex had just opened his new gym in An Toghar GAA.
I asked Alex would he be interested in training 10 people who had never completed a Triathlon before with a goal of all completing the King of Greystones 2017.. and thankfully he said yes and thought it was a brilliant idea.
I have to admit after seeing so many people of all different shapes, sizes and range of different fitness levels all finish the King of Greystones 2016 I was in awe of the energy and adrenaline that was apparent on the faces of people crossing the finish line….
I knew then that I also wanted to experience that felling while challenging myself to do something I have always wanted to do and bring people on the journey with us that wanted the same… #KOG10 was born
And the rest as they say is history!
